Feature
A fluorescent lamp, or fluorescent tube, is a type of low-pressure mercury-vapor gas-discharge lamp that produces visible light through the process of fluorescence. When an electric current passes through the gas, it excites the mercury vapor, creating short-wave ultraviolet light. This ultraviolet light then interacts with a phosphor coating inside the lamp, causing it to emit visible light. Fluorescent lamps are much more efficient at converting electrical energy into light than incandescent lamps, but they are less efficient than most LED lamps. The luminous efficacy of fluorescent lamps typically ranges from 50 to 100 lumens per watt, which is significantly higher than the 16 lumens per watt typically achieved by incandescent bulbs.
Application
The fluorescent lamp cap is a component of a fluorescent lamp.
