The 2024 East China Cross-border E-commerce New Growth Conference took place in Wu Zhong on August 21, focusing on "AI in Foreign Trade" and "Simplified Global Expansion." Attended by top economists, industry experts, and leading e-commerce companies, the event delved into future trends, cross-border growth opportunities, and innovative paths for quality development. Notable attendees included former Chongqing mayor Huang Qifan and Suzhou city officials, alongside senior figures from Alibaba and other key industry players. With over 2,000 participants, the event showcased collaborations between Suzhou and Alibaba, emphasizing Suzhou's role as a growing hub for cross-border e-commerce. 


Huang Qifan delivered a keynote on China's "dual circulation" strategy and its implications for global trade, while Alibaba representatives discussed the role of AI and new technologies in driving e-commerce growth. Other speakers highlighted the challenges and solutions for Chinese businesses seeking global expansion, with advice on improving supply chain competitiveness and leveraging AI to enhance business operations.


The conference also recognized standout e-commerce companies in Jiangsu province and facilitated discussions on buyer trends, AI integration, and customer management. These insights aimed to provide actionable takeaways for businesses engaged in cross-border trade.


Wu Zhong district has seen a significant surge in cross-border e-commerce, with a 285.6% year-on-year increase in import-export trade during the first half of 2024. To sustain this growth, the district is implementing a strategic plan targeting a fourfold increase in e-commerce activity by 2025, focusing on scaling operations, brand development, and creating a robust service ecosystem. With a strong industrial base and an emphasis on innovation, Wu Zhong is poised to become a key player in global e-commerce.


The event underscored Wu Zhong's commitment to advancing cross-border trade through partnerships with Alibaba and other leading platforms, with a particular focus on sectors like smart home appliances, Suzhou craftsmanship, and renewable energy. The district also aims to continue its institutional reforms to attract more enterprises and further build a world-class e-commerce ecosystem.


By hosting the conference, Wu Zhong reaffirmed its role as a growing force in the cross-border e-commerce industry, driving the region toward new heights of international trade and economic development.
